AESTHETIC MEDICAL CLINIC
Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating can take over your day. It affects your clothes, your confidence, and how you feel in every room you walk into. At our Bristol clinic, we offer two proven treatments, miraDry and anti-sweat injections, so you can choose the solution that suits you.

Excessive Sweating Treatment
Excessive sweating, clinically known as hyperhidrosis, is more common than most people realise, and far more treatable than many assume. Whether it is underarm sweating that affects your choice of clothing, hand or foot sweating that creates daily embarrassment, or facial sweating that makes social situations difficult, effective treatments are available at our Clifton, Bristol clinic.
We offer two distinct treatment options for underarm hyperhidrosis with very different profiles. We will help you understand which is more appropriate for your circumstances.

miraDry, Permanent Reduction
miraDry uses precisely controlled microwave energy to permanently eliminate the sweat and odour glands in the underarm area. It is the only non-invasive treatment clinically proven to permanently reduce both sweat and odour, and the only FDA-cleared device of its kind.
Clinical data demonstrates an average 82% reduction in underarm sweating after a single treatment session. Because the sweat and odour glands do not regenerate once destroyed, the result is genuinely long-term rather than a temporary improvement that requires repeat maintenance. Patients also report a significant reduction in underarm hair as an additional benefit of treatment.
Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic at our Bristol clinic and takes approximately 60 to 90 minutes. A handheld device is applied to the underarm area in a precise grid pattern, delivering controlled microwave energy to the depth of the sweat glands while protecting the overlying skin. Most patients require only one session to achieve a lasting result, though a second treatment is available for those who wish to maximise their outcome.
Mild swelling, sensitivity, and temporary numbness in the underarm area are common in the days following treatment and settle without intervention. Most patients return to normal daily activities within a day or two. The underarms can be washed and deodorant used again from the following day.

Neurotoxin Injections, Temporary Reduction
Botulinum toxin injections in the underarms are highly effective and well-established for hyperhidrosis, blocking nerve signals that trigger sweat gland activity. Results last 4–6 months. This is a prescription-only medicine assessed, prescribed and administered by our nurse prescribers. A good option for patients who prefer a reversible solution, or those not yet ready for miraDry.
Frequently Asked Questions, Excessive Sweating
-
Which treatment is better, miraDry or anti-wrinkle injections?
For a long-term permanent solution, miraDry. For patients who prefer a reversible approach or want to trial a non-surgical option first, botulinum toxin injections are very effective. We will discuss both options fully at your consultation.
-
Can excessive sweating affect areas other than the underarms?
Yes, hyperhidrosis can affect the hands, feet and face. Botulinum toxin can be used in some of these areas. We will advise on the most appropriate treatment for your presentation.
-
Is miraDry available on the NHS?
No. It is available privately at our Bristol clinic. Botulinum toxin for hyperhidrosis may be available on the NHS in some areas for severe cases, though access varies by region.
