AESTHETIC MEDICAL CLINIC

Lip Reconstruction

If your lips have been affected by cancer treatment, injury or a structural concern, specialist reconstruction can restore both appearance and function.

Lip Reconstruction with Mr Simon Lee

Lip reconstruction may be required following the removal of skin cancer, following trauma or injury, or to address a structural concern that cannot be treated by non-surgical means. It is a specialist field within plastic surgery, one that requires in-depth knowledge of lip anatomy, tissue rearrangement and the specific goal of restoring natural function and appearance.

Mr Simon Lee is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with broad reconstructive experience. He sees patients at our Clifton, Bristol clinic for consultation and often performs reconstruction under local anaesthetic within the clinic.

Suitable for

  • Post-excision reconstruction following removal of a basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma of the lip
  • Traumatic lip injury and scarring
  • Perioral lines and structural lip loss associated with ageing, where non-surgical options are insufficient
  • Developmental concerns affecting lip shape, symmetry or function

Frequently Asked Questions, Lip Reconstruction

  • Do I need a GP or specialist referral?

Not necessarily. You can contact our Bristol clinic directly to arrange a consultation with Mr Lee. If reconstruction follows a cancer diagnosis, this would typically be coordinated with your oncology team.

  • What will reconstruction involve?

This depends entirely on the nature and extent of the concern. Mr Lee will assess your situation at consultation and explain the most appropriate surgical approach, the expected outcome and the recovery involved.
