Large Pores

Enlarged pores and oily skin are two of the most common concerns we hear at our Bristol clinic, and two of the most misunderstood. Pores cannot literally be opened and closed. No cream will physically reduce their size. What can be addressed, however, are the factors that make pores appear more prominent: excess sebum production, surface congestion, loss of skin elasticity, and post-acne changes that leave pore walls weakened and stretched.

For most patients, a combination of a structured prescription skincare programme, such as Obagi Nu-Derm, alongside clinical treatments produces the most meaningful and lasting improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions, Large Pores Bristol

  • Can large pores be permanently reduced?

With a consistent treatment programme, the appearance of enlarged pores can be significantly improved and maintained. Most patients benefit from maintenance peels or microneedling every three to six months alongside a daily skincare routine.

  • Are there advantages to seeing a doctor about oily skin?

Yes. Prescription-strength treatments such as Obagi are not available over the counter and can make a real difference where cosmetic products have not. We are happy to assess your skin and advise at our Bristol clinic.
