Lip Lift Surgery
Some changes to the lip cannot be addressed with filler. A lip lift is a permanent surgical solution for a very specific concern, and for the right patient, nothing else comes close.

Why Considering Lip Lift Surgery?
The lip lift: what it does, who it's for
A lip lift is a minor surgical procedure that permanently shortens the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip (the philtrum), lifting the upper lip and revealing more of the natural pink lip tissue for a more defined, youthful shape. It is a procedure with a very specific indication. No amount of filler can replicate what a lip lift does.
Who Is a Good Candidate? As we age, the philtrum tends to lengthen, causing the upper lip to descend and lose its definition and volume. The result is a face that looks older, with a lip that shows very little natural vermilion at rest and covers all the upper teeth. Filler can add volume, but it cannot shorten the philtrum or lift the lip. A lip lift can. Permanently.
Mr Simon Lee performs lip lift surgery at the clinic in Bristol under local anaesthetic as a day procedure. The incision is placed in the natural crease at the base of the nose, where it heals to become very difficult to detect.
Patients who have noticed a lengthening and thinning of the philtrum with age, resulting in a long, flat upper lip with little visible vermilion. Also appropriate for patients who have always had a long philtrum and have wanted a more defined upper lip. It is less suitable for patients primarily wanting volume, for whom lip filler remains the more appropriate treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions, Lip Lift Surgery
-
What is the recovery after a lip lift surgery?
Most patients experience mild swelling and bruising for the first week. Sutures are removed at approximately 5–7 days. The scar typically settles and fades over 3–6 months. Most patients are comfortable resuming social activities within 10–14 days.
-
Is the scar visible?
The incision is placed in the crease below the nose and up inside the nostrils, where it is very well camouflaged. With careful technique and good scar management, it becomes largely imperceptible once fully healed.

Can I combine a lip lift with lip filler?
Yes, many patients benefit from a lip lift for structural improvement and a small amount of filler for additional volume or definition. Mr Lee will advise on the best combination at your consultation in Bristol.
