AESTHETIC MEDICAL CLINIC
Botulinum Wrinkle Reduction
Unwanted lines and facial tension can be softened without surgery or downtime. Simon Lee Clinic in Bristol offers anti-wrinkle injections prescribed and administered by experienced medical professionals within a consultant-led environment.
Botulinum toxin has been used safely in medicine for more than 35 years. At Simon Lee Clinic in Clifton, Bristol, all anti-wrinkle injectable treatments are prescription-only medicines, assessed, prescribed, and administered by our experienced nurse prescribers Anna Stafford and Emma Davies RN NMP, within a medically supervised environment led by Mr Simon Lee, Consultant Plastic Surgeon.
That distinction matters. Prescription-only injectables require a qualified prescriber. Not every Bristol clinic offering anti-wrinkle treatments can say that.
The treatment works by temporarily blocking nerve signals that cause specific muscles to contract. The overlying skin relaxes, softening expression lines and leaving a natural, refreshed appearance — not a frozen one. When it is done well, nobody notices anything except that you look a little better than usual.
Why Choose Simon Lee Clinic?
One of the unique strengths of our clinic is the integration of surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation under one roof. Anti-wrinkle injections are not treated in isolation here. They complement facelift surgery, maintain surgical results, improve facial movement after procedures, and, in selected patients, delay the need for surgery altogether.
That combined understanding allows us to plan treatments appropriately for each stage of facial ageing, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
Our philosophy is straightforward: the best anti-wrinkle treatment is often the least obvious. We focus on facial harmony, preservation of natural expression, tailored dosing, and respecting individual anatomy. Patients tell us they want to look less tired, less tense, and more like themselves not different.
Areas We treat
- Crow’s feet. Fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes. Treatment here produces a significant softening effect.
- Bunny lines. Diagonal creases across the nose that appear when the face is scrunched.
- Downturned mouth corners. Product placed into the depressor anguli oris muscle lifts the corners of the mouth, correcting a downturned resting expression.
- Chin dimpling. Relaxing the mentalis muscle smooths an uneven or pebbled chin appearance
- Neck bands (platysmal bands). Injections into the vertical neck cords relax the platysma muscle and visibly reduce banding.
- Nefertiti neck lift. A series of injections along the jaw line and into the upper neck that sharpens jaw definition and reduces neck banding without surgery.
- Masseter reduction. Injections into the masseter muscle reduce its bulk over time, slimming the lower face and relieving teeth grinding. Results develop gradually over four to six weeks.
- Hyperhidrosis. Anti-wrinkle injections in the underarms, hands, or feet can significantly reduce excessive sweating for 4 to 6 months.
Preventative Treatment
Many younger patients now choose anti-wrinkle treatment before deeper lines become permanently established. Early treatment can slow wrinkle formation, reduce repetitive skin creasing, and maintain a fresher appearance for longer. The aim is subtle prevention rather than dramatic change.
Treatment for Post-Surgical Patients
Anti-wrinkle injections can play an important role following facial surgery. After procedures such as a deep plane facelift, neck lift, eyelid surgery, or brow lift, carefully placed botulinum toxin can refine upper facial movement, reduce recurrent dynamic wrinkling, and support long-term results. Because we combine surgical and non-surgical expertise, treatments are planned as part of a broader picture rather than in isolation.
Male Treatments
Increasing numbers of male patients choose anti-wrinkle treatment to achieve a fresher, less tired appearance while maintaining masculine facial characteristics. Male faces require different assessment and dosing strategies to preserve brow position, forehead shape, and natural movement. Our approach is discreet and tailored specifically to male facial anatomy.
Combining Treatments
Anti-wrinkle injections are often combined with dermal fillers, fractional laser resurfacing, skin boosters, polynucleotides, microneedling, or medical skincare. Combination treatment plans can improve skin quality, facial structure, texture, and overall rejuvenation more effectively than any single treatment alone.

What to Expect at Your Appointment
Every treatment begins with a thorough consultation. We take a full medical history, discuss your concerns and goals, assess which muscles to treat, and take clinical photographs. The injections themselves use very fine needles and take around 10 to 15 minutes. Most patients experience only minimal discomfort and return to normal activities immediately. Results develop gradually over 7 to 14 days. After your first treatment we recommend a review appointment at two to three weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
Results typically last three to four months. The muscle begins to recover movement at around six to eight weeks, but lines take longer to return. Most patients maintain results with two to four treatments per year. With regular treatment, results often become more consistent over time.
-
When will I see results?
You may begin to notice effects within two to five days. Full results are usually visible at 10 to 14 days.
-
Is the treatment painful?
The needles used are very fine and the procedure is quick. Most patients find it very comfortable. No anaesthetic is required.
-
Will I look frozen?
Not when treatment is performed appropriately. Over-treatment is usually the result of excessive dosing or poor technique. Our approach is designed to preserve natural facial expression while softening unwanted lines and tension.
-
Is there any downtime?
Downtime is minimal. Most patients return immediately to work, social activities, and normal daily routines. Occasionally there may be small temporary bumps, mild redness, or minor bruising, which settle quickly.
-
What should I avoid after treatment?
For the first 24 hours, avoid vigorous exercise, rubbing the treated areas, lying flat, excess heat, and alcohol. Detailed aftercare instructions are provided at your appointment.
-
Can anti-wrinkle injections be combined with dermal fillers?
Yes. Many patients combine both treatments at the same appointment. Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles causing expression lines, while dermal fillers restore volume and structure.
-
What happens if I stop having treatment?
Your muscles gradually regain normal movement as the treatment wears off. Stopping does not make wrinkles worse. Your appearance returns gradually towards its natural baseline. Many patients find they still look better than before treatment because repetitive skin creasing has been reduced during the treatment period.
-
At what age should I start?
There is no correct age. Some patients begin preventative treatment in their late twenties or thirties, while others start when lines become more established. Treatment decisions are based on facial movement, skin quality, anatomy, and personal goals — not age alone.
-
Is it safe?
Botulinum toxin has an excellent safety profile when prescribed and administered correctly. Safety depends on proper assessment, anatomical knowledge, correct dosing, and appropriate patient selection. All treatments at Simon Lee Clinic are delivered by experienced, qualified nurse prescribers within a consultant-led practice.
-
How much does treatment cost?
Prices start from £195 for one area. Please see our full price list or contact our Clifton, Bristol clinic to discuss your treatment plan.
