Dermal Fillers
Mr Simon Lee and his team offer a full range of dermal filler treatments at our Clifton, Bristol clinic. Every treatment is grounded in the anatomical expertise of a Consultant Plastic Surgeon.

Dermal Fillers in Bristol
Most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the skin, where it holds water, provides hydration, and gives volume. As we age, our natural reserves diminish. When we replace it with a carefully manufactured equivalent, the body does not recognise it as foreign; it integrates with our own hyaluronic acid and is gradually broken down and excreted naturally alongside it.
At our Clifton, Bristol clinic, all filler treatments are administered by our experienced nurse prescribers within a practice led by Mr Simon Lee, Consultant Plastic Surgeon. Mr Lee’s expertise in facial anatomy, developed through years of surgical practice, informs the standard of care we provide for every injectable treatment. We use only products that have been well tried, tested and are FDA-approved.

Types of Dermal Fillers
Lip Fillers
Filler injections to the lips can add volume, improve shape, define the Cupid’s bow, or restore fullness that reduces with age. This is a powerful technique, and when applied poorly, it creates obvious results. We see many poor outcomes from elsewhere. Come and talk to us.
Cheek Fillers
Restoring volume to the cheeks lifts the mid-face and reduces the appearance of nasolabial folds. Using premium hyaluronic acid products, results can last up to 18 months. We also use Radiesse, a collagen-stimulating filler, for facial volumising and contouring where longer-lasting structural support is the goal.
Jawline and Chin Fillers
A defined jawline and balanced chin make a significant difference to the overall profile of the face. Filler placed carefully along the mandibular border creates a sculpted, contoured result without the need for surgery.
Tear Trough Fillers in Bristol
Dark circles and under-eye hollows can make you look tired regardless of how much sleep you have had. Tear trough filler requires precision and a thorough understanding of the anatomy in this area.
Collagen Stimulators, Sculptra and Radiesse
For patients who need significant volume restoration but prefer gradual rather than immediate results, we offer Sculptra, the treatment of choice for restoring youthful contours and lifting the face over several months. This can be used in many locations of the face, including the cheeks, but also the temples, the neck and around the mouth. Maintenance treatment is required
Trusted Hyaluronic Acid brands
We only use approved and trusted Hyaluronic acid brands at Simon Lee Aesthetic Medical Clinic, including Restylane, Teosyal and Belotero. Each brand has its own qualities, which is why we include a number of different brands in our ‘toolbox’.
What does the treatment involve?
The skin is thoroughly cleansed. All make up must be removed and then anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment are, or ice, if you prefer. The injections are not painful in our hands, the dermal fillers have an anaesthetic in them, so can be injected quite painlessly. The results are instant!
What to expect after the treatment
Immediately afterwards, the majority will look immediately better, with no tell tale signs they have had a procedure. For some, the skin may be a little red, the injections have been. There may be some swelling over the first two or three days, but this is not normally disfiguring in any way. It is possible to have bruising.
We advise against applying make up for 12 hours following treatment.
How long will results last?
We do not use permanent fillers in this clinic (the kind of fillers seen on programmes such as ‘Botched up Bodies’). As the dermal filler is gradually broken down and excreted in a natural way by the body, your skin will return to its pre-treatment state; possibly a little better than before, but certainly no worse.
How long the results last depends on a number of variables: the product, how it is placed, and your own biology and lifestyle. Generally speaking, we would expect them to last 4-12 months.
FAQ: Your Questions Answered
-
How long do dermal fillers last?
Lip fillers typically last 6–12 months. Cheek and facial contouring fillers can last 12–18 months. Sculptra results are maintained for up to 24 months.
-
Are dermal fillers safe?
All products we use are FDA-approved with an established safety profile. Hyaluronic acid fillers are fully reversible — they can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if required. We always have hyaluronidase available at our Bristol clinic.
-
What is the difference between fillers and anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles to soften expression lines. Fillers add volume and structure to the face. Many patients benefit from both.
-
Do you use permanent fillers?
No. We do not use permanent fillers at this clinic. As the hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down and excreted naturally, your skin returns to its pre-treatment state.
