AESTHETIC MEDICAL CLINIC

Thermage Skin Tightening

Thermage tightens loose skin without surgery — stimulating collagen from within using radiofrequency energy, with no downtime and results that improve over three to six months after a single session. We use the Thermage FLX system at our Clifton, Bristol clinic.

Thermage uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating the production of new collagen and causing an immediate tightening of existing collagen fibres. It is a non-invasive, no-downtime treatment that works from within, improving skin laxity and texture gradually over three to six months after a single session.

It is one of the few energy devices that genuinely tightens loose skin without surgery. It will not replicate a surgical result, but for patients with mild to moderate laxity who are not ready for surgery, or who want to maintain results after a surgical procedure, it is a useful and well-evidenced option. We use the Thermage CPT (Comfort Pulse Technology) system at our Clifton, Bristol clinic, which is significantly more comfortable than older generations of the device.

What Thermage Treats at Our Bristol Clinic

Loose or crepey skin on the lower face and neck, including early jowling and neck laxity. Brow heaviness and mild upper face drooping. Body skin laxity, including the abdomen and thighs. Facial skin texture and overall skin quality improvement.

What to Expect

Treatment takes approximately 45 to 90 minutes depending on the area. There is no recovery period — you can return to normal activities immediately. The skin feels warm during treatment, but this is manageable throughout. Most patients have a single session, with results developing gradually over the following months. A follow-up session at 12 to 18 months is common for maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions — Thermage FLX

  • Is Thermage FLX painful?

The FLX system uses vibration on the skin during treatment making the experience much more manageable than older radiofrequency systems. Most patients find it very tolerable throughout.

  • How many sessions will I need?

Thermage FLX is designed as a single-session treatment, with results developing over three to six months. Many patients have a maintenance session every 12 to 18 months.

  • Is Thermage FLX suitable for all skin types?

Yes. Radiofrequency energy is safe across all Fitzpatrick skin types, unlike some laser treatments.

  • Can Thermage FLX replace laser resurfacing?

No — Thermage FLX and lasers treat different aspects of ageing. Thermage FLX primarily targets laxity and collagen support, whereas lasers mainly improve skin texture and surface quality. In many patients, the most effective strategy combines both technologies.

  • Is Thermage FLX a replacement for a facelift?

No. Thermage FLX can improve mild laxity, but it cannot reproduce the structural repositioning achievable with a deep plane or SMAS surgical facelift. Patients with significant jowling, neck laxity, or skin excess will achieve more substantial and longer-lasting improvement with surgery. However, Thermage is a treatment with no scarring and almost no downtime.

  • How much does Thermage FLX cost in Bristol?
