AESTHETIC MEDICAL CLINIC
Fraxel Dual Laser
Fractional non-ablative laser resurfacing delivers clinically meaningful skin renewal without the downtime associated with ablative CO2 treatment. At Simon Lee Clinic in Bristol, dual-wavelength treatments are guided by nearly two decades of fractional laser experience and a consultant plastic surgeon's understanding of how skin ages, heals, and responds.

How dual-wavelength fractional resurfacing works
Fractional laser resurfacing creates thousands of microscopic treatment zones within the skin. These controlled columns of thermal energy stimulate collagen remodelling, improve skin architecture, and promote healthy skin regeneration, while leaving surrounding tissue intact to support faster healing.
Two complementary wavelengths are used, each targeting a different depth and skin concern. The 1550nm wavelength works primarily within the dermis, improving acne scarring, surgical scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, stretch marks, and textural irregularities. The 1927nm thulium wavelength targets the more superficial layers, addressing pigmentation, age spots, melasma, uneven skin tone, and early photoageing, while improving overall luminosity and skin clarity. Used together, they enable a single treatment plan to address both texture and tone simultaneously.
Not a laser facial
Many superficial laser treatments create temporary brightness but produce limited structural change. Dual-wavelength fractional resurfacing stimulates new collagen formation, improves dermal architecture, softens scar tissue, refines pores, reduces pigmentation, and produces progressive improvement over months. The result is skin that looks healthier, clearer, and more refined, without looking treated.

Why experience matters
Fractional laser resurfacing is highly operator-dependent. Results are shaped as much by clinical judgement as by the technology itself.
Mr Simon Lee has been working with advanced fractional resurfacing systems since the early days of Fraxel in the UK. That background informs the selection of energy levels, density settings, and layering techniques for each individual, as well as the management of pigment risk, skin healing dynamics, and combination strategies.
The goal is not simply to treat the surface. It is intelligent, medically guided skin remodelling.
Frequently asked questions
-
What does Fraxel Dual Laser
The treatment is suitable for the full face, eyelids, perioral lines, neck, chest, hands, acne scar zones, surgical scars, and stretch marks. It is particularly well-suited to patients who want meaningful improvement in skin quality rather than surface-level results.
-
Combined with surgery
One of the advantages of treatment at a consultant-led plastic surgery clinic is the ability to integrate laser resurfacing into a broader facial rejuvenation plan. Fractional laser treatments can complement deep-plane facelifts, eyelid surgery, neck lift surgery, polynucleotides, microneedling, and regenerative skin therapies, allowing a more comprehensive approach to facial ageing rather than isolated treatments.
-
Recovery time
Recovery depends on treatment intensity and wavelength selection. Most patients experience redness, mild swelling, and some bronzing or micro-peeling for several days. Lighter treatments allow a return to normal social activity within a few days. Deeper resurfacing may require longer. Treatment plans are tailored around skin condition, goals, and tolerance for downtime.
